Janie & Oscar in front of The Old Country Store, founded 1781. This place had ALOT of neat things. We spent quite awhile in this store buying various obscure gifts for people.

Liberty
Room where the first congress met in Philadelphia before Washington DC was born. This is where the first peaceful transfer of power to elected official was done in the world. (Washington to Adams)
Danny's Drive In
Due to Googles shutting down of my blog, this is the 4th time I have tried to make this post, but I have faith so here goes. Wally & I stopped to eat at a local drive in in N. Pennsylvania. I went into order while Wally made sure that we weren't blocking the driveway of the people who lived next door to the drive in. When he didn't come in, I went to check on him. He was making friends with the 80 someyear old former owners of the drive in who lived next door. They invited us to spend the night in front of their drive in and to "plug in" so we could run our heater and stay warm.
Inside Danny was having a meeting of his classmates to plan their 65th HS reunion! As we plugged in, the house went dark and the meeting was put on hold as they searched in the basement for the circuit breaker to restore the power that our little Egg had disrupted. Wally went in, saved the day (after being responsible for the darkness) and the meeting went on as planned. IN a few minutes Jo came out with a loaf of delicious nutbread and wished us a goodnight! Now that is hospitality!

I wanted to post these pictures of fall in Pennsylvania before we set out for Philadelphia. These pictures were taken at Hills Creek Campground in the northern part of the state. There are many rolling hills, creeks, swamps and lakes here. I thought the West had the majority of great recreational places in the U.S., but I have found out that isn't so.
A rainfall of leaves cascades downward every few minutes. I enjoy watching them on their peaceful descent.

Pennsylvania
Yesterday afternoon, in full sunshine, we entered the beautiful state of Pennsylvania. We were greeted by a brand new highway with a brand new welcome center. This beautiful view of a small PA town nestled in a valley was taken from the Welcome Center. The center featured many amenities, friendly people and many brochures and maps. (By contrast we were unable to find a welcome center in New York and received a map from a campground host who had found it on the ground). To my right as I took this picture was a huge busload of German tourists. They were enjoying the view and the sunshine as well.
Early morning boaters near our campsite. We are currently camped at Hills Lake State Park, PA. This campground is beautiful and very well kept up. As I write this blog my laundry is churning away in their new laundryroom. Their bathrooms and showers make an Arizonian weep with joy - they are heated!!! Everything is well kept up and clean. I love Pennsylvania!
Like a Grandmother who takes too many pictures of her grandchildren, I am entranced with the fall leaves. They are everywhere in many combinations of colors possible. A few minutes ago one of those maple "helicopter" seeds floated down in front of me and hit the ground gracefully. I was entranced. I don't think I have seen one of those since I was a child in Saint Louis.
Corning Glass Musuem
Yesterday we visited the Corning Glass Museum in Corning NY. Words can't begin to describe the wonders that are found there. This beautiful museum has examples of the earliest types of glass, supplies tours given by docents or audio, has shows that demonstrate glass blowing, breaking glass, telescopes, fiber optics, glass building supplies, fiber glass and more. We could have easily spent two days there. They have a wonderful cafe (important to Liz). Of course we sat in the enclosed patio type are in the sun. Yes folks, I said sun. The sun had been but a memory to us for a month, but it appeared yesterday after an early morning fog and we were glad to see it.
Although not clear in this picture, a huge shop offers all kinds of glass pieces. This crystal glass area had many examples of crystal animals in many different colors.
This exquisite piece was at the end of the tour.
Although we hated to leave, we needed to move on the Pennsylvania while it was still light so we could find a good campsite with electricity. We wanted to have our electric heater operational due to the fact that it was expected to be in the 30's tonight! Yes, the 30's.
